Antonella Zecca is an Italian visual artist, art director and model based in Helsinki, Finland.
Born in Milan in a family of artists, she started approaching drawing and painting through manga (Japanese comic books) and anime (Japanese cartoons), which contributed to her developing her distinctive style.
After graduating in Fine Arts, majoring in painting, she started approaching photography to better grasp the nature of the human mind, in an attempt to catch the real face we never show to the outside world, mostly using herself as the subject. Her interest in psychology, sociology, philosophy, religion and human sciences in general plays a pivotal role in her research.
She's also been working in the fashion industry for years, covering different roles, coming in contact with the most influential personalities in the high fashion scene.
Her work spans from painting and photography to art direction and styling.
The most important thing in her artistic activity is connection.
In January 2022 she started a collaboration with Radio Kaos Italy (ww.radiokaositaly.com), where she curated her segment "Mika Säppilo" during the show Backstage, on air every Monday afternoon for two seasons (2022-2023).
The segment was aimed to present new bands from the rock and metal Finnish underground music scene to the Italian audience.
Each band was interviewed for the website of the radio as well, with interviews translated and edited by Zecca herself.
She's an introvert with a passion for individuals, for the outcasts, the rebels, for those who have this hunger that pushes them to overcome their limits.
That's what she demands from her models when directing them, as well as from herself when she embarks on new projects.
